Behind the Scenes: Mauro Erni – From Learner to Developer

IT career? Mauro shows how it’s done.

From apprentice to fully-fledged application developer – Mauro Erni demonstrates how curiosity, a love of learning, and team spirit shape one’s entry into the IT world. Today, he is a developer at DATA UNIT and is enthusiastic about new challenges and clever solutions every day.

A brief glimpse with a big impact

Two days to get a feel for it – that was all it took.
“I was given the opportunity to take a look inside the DATA UNIT and was immediately convinced: The team, the atmosphere and the tasks – it’s a perfect fit for me.”
Shortly afterwards, Mauro started his apprenticeship as an IT specialist in application development. The decision: absolutely right.

Why IT?

From an early age, Mauro was fascinated by analyzing complex problems and developing suitable solutions.
“In IT, you see the results of your work immediately – that makes the job tangible and motivating.”
He sees the constant evolution of technology not as a disadvantage, but as an opportunity: “You never stop learning – and that’s exactly what makes it exciting.”

The smooth transition into everyday working life

For Mauro, the transition from apprenticeship to the daily work routine of a fully-fledged computer scientist was almost seamless:
“I hardly noticed any difference. The team remained the same, as did the team spirit.”
Only one thing changed: no more classic apprentice tasks – a sign that he has now fully arrived in the daily life of a developer.

Team spirit that unites

“The atmosphere at DATA UNIT is both family-like and very professional,” says Mauro.
What he particularly enjoys is that they spend a good time together, not only in the office but also outside – be it at team events or spontaneous leisure activities.

Advice for new learners

Mauro’s tip for young professionals:
“Don’t wait to ask questions – everyone is happy to help. Nobody expects you to know everything.”
Patience, interest, and openness are crucial.
“And take part in events – this will bring you closer together as a team and make the work twice as much fun.”
