Industry: Luxury goods production and trade

For over 40 years, Manifattura Ceraolo Moroni has been producing luxury cases, watch winders, and boutique accessories that meet the highest standards of service, quality, and attention to detail. The internationally active company, headquartered in Kriens (LU), Switzerland, has additional locations beyond its birthplace in Parabiago (Italy) in Balerna (TI), Romania, as well as in China, Hong Kong, and India.

Challenge

The major challenge for Manifattura Ceraolo Moroni was that its numerous locations – particularly those in Switzerland and Italy – used different ERP systems and lacked production planning. This resulted in a lack of oversight of the complex supply chain, which significantly hampered order processing, capacity planning, and procurement, making them prone to errors.

Solution

In March 2021, SAP partner DATA UNIT AG presented the SAP Business ByDesign system to Manifattura Ceraolo Moroni. This cloud-based ERP software, offered and operated as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), provides support for all business processes across application areas ranging from finance to human resources management. “The system more than meets the minimum requirements and also provides us with a better foundation for strategic decisions,” explains Armend Haxhosaj.

The new system was also designed in such a way that group-wide consolidation of financial results can be easily generated in the future.

Result

MCM expects the new system with its user-friendly interface to provide not only simplified and standardized accounting processes, improved transparency in supply chains, traceability of materials and standardized article names, but also, in particular, rapid data evaluation for the strategic development of the company.

With its end-to-end cloud software, designed on the principle of a service-oriented architecture, MCM doesn’t need to worry about updates and always receives the latest legal requirements automatically. Furthermore, the data in the SAP-operated cloud is protected and secured against threats both virtually and physically.
