Since 1948, the Basel-based trading company Chemie Brunschwig AG has been distributing high-quality products to customers in the chemical and life science sectors. Its global network of service providers for analysis, research and commercial development, hospitals, private and public laboratories, as well as universities and research institutions, enables the company to offer an innovative range of products and services.
Challenge
Before the introduction of SAP, one of the biggest challenges for Chemie Brunschwig AG was the difficulty of efficiently managing the extensive product catalog with over two million items.
After the online shop was revamped, order volume increased exponentially. Therefore, a high-performance ERP system connected to the online shop was needed, one that could, among other things, continuously and quickly update product status information.
Solution
In search of a powerful ERP solution that could support an extensive product catalog and a growing online business, Chemie Brunschwig turned to DATA UNIT.
Together with DATA UNIT, a webshop was evaluated and directly linked to the ERP system. The DUif connector, developed by DATA UNIT specifically for SAP’s ERP solution, was used for this purpose. Furthermore, all basic configurations and product data can now be centralized and managed in real time.
All product data, as well as purchasing and sales processes, are fully integrated into SAP. Ordering processes have been automated, and potential redundancies have been largely eliminated. A simple ordering process, fast delivery, and straightforward customer service are what distinguish the Brunschwig brand today.
Result
Thanks to the real-time connection between the online shop and SAP Business One, Chemie Brunschwig’s customers can access current stock levels and prices at any time. The user-friendly interface, requiring only three clicks, enables an efficient and quick ordering process, ensures maximum transparency, and delights customers.
Furthermore, all online orders are automatically created in SAP Business One via the DUif connector, allowing employees to process orders directly without switching between systems. The result is a significant increase in efficiency and productivity, which is also positively perceived by customers.
