DMB Technics AG, based in Hünenberg (ZG), employs around 31 people. The company designs and develops customized displays for industry, primarily used in Switzerland, Germany, and Austria in a wide variety of sectors. Its main application area is household appliances, such as displays for coffee machines and washing machines. However, DMB also develops products for medical and building technology, the automotive industry, e-mobility, the communications sector, and point-of-sale systems.

Challenge

For Dieter Heimgartner, CEO and co-founder of the company, it was clear from the outset that an ERP system capable of mapping all business processes was needed. “Especially for products that are intended to be available for several years, it’s crucial to be able to track every planning and production step as easily as possible,” explains Heimgartner. Specifically, when a customer inquires, the responsible employee needs very quick access to information about the product history, quantities, terms and conditions, logistics routes, etc. This is also because traceability is often legally required.

Solution

The company founders were already familiar with the large SAP systems from previous employers. They found them too complex. “During the evaluation, we discovered that SAP also offers a tool with Business One that is tailored to the needs of SMEs. Business processes can be mapped quickly with it – we liked that,” explains Dieter Heimgartner.

DMB Technics AG started in 2006 with three products and two customers in its ERP system. Today, the customer base has grown to 200 and annual sales to around 40 million Swiss francs.
